EGO PROBLEMS IN INDIAN IT INDUSTRY

Barack: - We need to create a strong domestic IT market in our USA. Many college students are learning about IT & ITES faster than any other countries. They are even providing technical support to US citizens at a very low cost. The more we can create domestic jobs for our US people, the more quickly we can recover from the global recession. Stop outsourcing IT jobs to India.

Condoleeza: - The quality of IT services of Indian IT companies has degraded. Some of them are also fake companies. Take the case of Mahindra Satyam only. They are yet to publish their real accounts.

Arindam: - You cannot judge the Indian IT industry by considering the example of Raju’s Satyam.

Hillary: - Arindam, you must appreciate that one wounded fish makes the water of the pond reddish in color. David, what is your opinion about the Indian IT companies?

David: - Frankly speaking; Indian IT companies are losing their strong grounds in the international arena. Chinese and European IT companies are their main competitors. Within next 5 years, Chinese IT sector may start ruling the world. Already, around 2 lacs IT employees of China have taken extensive training on US English. The expenses on Chinese employee are the cheapest.

Arindam: - Are you dissatisfied with the quality of Indian IT products? Forget Mahindra Satyam. Are HCL, TCS, Wipro and Infosys so bad that US companies will stop outsourcing their jobs to them?

David: - Infosys is the only Indian IT company which have a work culture similar to any standard MNC. The employees of Infosys will always say that they are not happy with the work pressure, but they really produce quality software. HCL and Wipro are somewhat satisfactory. TCS has a good brand value, but they have excessive useless employees, who are good for nothing. Had TCS not been associated with a group like Tata Group, then TCS would have kicked out many such useless employees, who just roam around the office for 8 hours and get salaries.

Hillary: - David, recently you were talking about some clashes in a GDC of California, where all the Indian IT professionals are working on a project.

David: - how can I forget that bull fighting? In that project, there are 7 programmers, 4 web designers, 2 DBAs and 1 system designer. Now, all of them are claiming that they understood the client’s requirement in minute details, but when all the modules got integrated into a package, it is showing some other results. Therefore, everyone is now involved in mudslinging. Programmers are saying that they have done the correct coding, but these web designers have added wrong codes to the main buttons. That’s why, many forms are inactive. System Designer is saying that the DBA people have not done the normalization of tables in a proper fashion. That’s why; the ultimate results are not getting updated to the final master table. Everyone is accusing the other person. They are not co-operative with each other and lack unity among themselves.

Condoleeza: - Indian IT professionals are always egoistic.

David: - That’s not acceptable. As a businessman, I am investing money on an IT project for my benefit. Why the hell will I tolerate those egos? Any Tom, Dick, Harry or even a street beggar can do those coding, if they are trained for 6 months. What’s the big deal? These coders just know how to cut, copy and paste. They don’t know why you should make DFD and UML before starting the coding. They even don’t understand the basics of Object Oriented technology like polymorphism and abstraction. Cut, Copy and Paste does not help. The Indian IT coders remain in that position for long without increasing their own competency levels. Therefore, they are just like mere labors. But, Non-Indian IT professionals will work as software programmers for 2 years and then they will have so much hunger under their belly that they will give their best effort to become a Project Manager or Delivery Integrator. This kind of effort adds profitability to the company. They also have a co-operative and knowledge sharing mind, which helps them to maintain unity among themselves. Whereas, the Indian IT professionals feel egoistic being a mere labor. IT Outsourcing in India is decreasing rapidly because of the “EGO PROBLEMS IN INDIAN IT INDUSTRY”.
